By Assistant Chief Scott Ackerman
January 4, 2007
On Thursday evening at 22:22 hours W511 was dispatched to a reported 4th due structure fire in the non-hydranted area of 14941 Largo Vista Drive. C515 (Command) was the first unit to arrive on scene and reported heavy fire showing from the structure. E515 and K515 were the next units to arrive on scene. Together with a mutual aid engine from Loudon County K515 set up their drop tank at the end of the driveway where E515 had begun their 800' lay up the driveway. Due to the existing fire conditions at the time of their arrival, a defensive operation was quickly established by E515's crew. Additional arriving units were directed to assist with establishing a water supply. As the 4th due engine W511's crew reported to command and was given the task of locating all exterior utilities prior to assisting with defensive operations once a water supply had been established. After the fire was determined to be under control W511's crew was released.
A511A was on scene to provide any necessary EMS and Acting C511 (Ackerman) ran water supply operations.
Both residents were treated for minor injuries following the incident.
