The Stone House Volunteer Fire Department and Rescue Squad (SHVFD), based just north of Manassas, VA, has proudly served the citizens of Prince William County since April 1971. SHVFD is incorporated as a non-proffit with the Commonwealth of Virginia and contracted with the County to protect approximately 17.4 square miles and an estimated population of 36,800. The department is one of the busiest in the County responding to over 5,000 calls per year and our volunteers average over 54,000 hours of service per year.
Our first due area is a mix of suburban and rural residential, commercial, and light industry areas. We protect Manassas Battlefield National Park, Interstate 66, Manassas Mall, high volume railroad tracks, natural gas pipelines, a Mobil Oil tank farm, 2 university campuses, dense residential neighborhoods, over a dozen public and private grade schools, and several nursing and retirement homes. We assist our sister stations in Yorkshire, Gainesville, Nokesville and Evergreen. Additionally, we respond on automatic mutual aid to calls in Manassas City, Manassas Park, Fairfax County, Loudoun County, and Fauquier County.
Volunteering requires tremendous sacrifice of valuable family and social time. Intense training and study are important parts of life at Company 11 and we take great pride in our reputation for excellence. We take our responsibility of serving our community very seriously and strive to increase our knowledge and preparedness every day.
We hope you enjoy our website. We have worked hard to pack it with valuable information and exciting pictures. Still, it shows just a small part of what we do as professional volunteers serving our community.
