Line officers are responsible for the daily operations of the station. Each officer is assigned to a nightly duty crew as well as a weekend duty crew, sometimes with another officer. Together the officers manage the crew activities including training and scene operations. |

CHIEF - MARK HARLOW |
|
Mark Harlow joined SJVFD&RS in 1986. He has served as an operational officer in the positions of Fire Sergeant, both Fire and Truck Lieutenant, Captain, and Assistant Chief as well as administratively on the department's Board of Directors. Mark is an Engine and Truck Driver/Operator, and certified in Confined
Space and Vehicle Rescue.

CAPTAIN, TRAINING - AMY HOFFMAN |

Amy Hoffman joined the department in 2008 with six years of previous experience in fire and EMS. Amy has held positions on the Board of Directors, as Vice President, Grants Manager, Buildings & Grounds Manager, Fire Operations Lieutenant, and most recently as the department's Training Captain. She is a certified EMT-B, is a cleared Engine Officer, Engine Driver and Aerial Operator; and holds certifications through Fire Officer III and Instructor II. She enjoys driving the ladder truck and training new recruits to find passion in the fire service. |
CAPTAIN, FIRE OPS - JUSTIN KARASEK |

Justin joined the department in 2017 when he moved from Pennsylvania where he currently still serves as a Firefighter-EMT for the last 20 years with a background in Special Vehicle Rescue, Confined Space Rescue, Technical Rope Rescue, Truck Company Operations, and Engine Company Operations. He joined SHVFD and quickly got up to speed moving up through the ranks from Sgt to now Captain after completing Officer III and Instructor II Training.
He is also currently a Member At Large on the Board of Directors.

Lieutenant Ethan Cochran is a seasoned firefighter and EMT with 20 years of experience serving the Prince William County community. As a second-generation firefighter, he brings a strong foundation of dedication and expertise to his role.
