Duty Crews
Our station is staffed 24 hours a day, 7 days a week and 365 days a year by career and volunteer personnel. The Prince William County Fire and Rescue Department provides career staff for the SJVFD engine and truck 24 hours a day along with a DFR medic unit. Volunteers staff the station on weekday evenings from 1800–0600. We have five weeknight duty crews (Monday-Friday), and three weekend duty crews (Crew A – Crew C).
Upon acceptance into our organization, you will be assigned to one weeknight and one weekend duty crew. This means you will be expected to report for duty on your weekly night crew at 1800 and then every four weekends for the 36-hour shift.
Weeknight Crews
Monday–Thursday: 1800, overnight to 0600 the following morning
Friday: 1800, overnight to 0800 the following morning
Weekend Crews (on a rotating schedule every 4th weekend):
Crews A through C: 0800 Saturday morning overnight to 1800 Sunday evening
You will be required to attend your weeknight and weekend duty crew or find a fill in unless prior arrangements have been made with your duty officer. In addition, you are also required to attend the company meeting on the second Tuesday of every month.
Your family and your job always come first, so if a conflict in your schedule occurs and you will not be able to attend duty on any given night, contact your duty crew officer and arrangements can be made.
