Stone House Volunteer Fire and Rescue Squad is incorporated as a not-for-profit company, and as such has a lot of business matters which need to be attended to. Like any corporation, we have a board of directors which handles the majority of the administrative work, and they report to the membership at large.

VICE PRESIDENT - RICHARD RUBINO

Richard Rubino joined the Department in 1986 and is now serving his second time as Vice President of SHVFD. Since joining the department, Richard has been active in EMS operations, serving as the EMS supply officer and writing specifications for the purchase of two of the Department’s pumpers and last five ambulances. Richard has held a variety of leadership positions in the Department, including President, Vice President, Secretary, EMS Lieutenant, assistant training officer and several terms as a member of the Board of Directors. 

 

Richard is currently the Chair of the Prince William County Fire and Rescue System’s Budget Advisory and Financial Committee and previously served on the County’s Apparatus and Equipment Committee as well as a Director on the County’s previous Fire and Rescue Association. 

 

Richard holds certifications as an EMT-I, EVOC II, Vehicle Extrication and is a BLS Protocols and EVDT instructor for Prince William County.

TREASURER -  ERIC NIELSEN

Eric Nielsen joined the Department in November, 2011 and has been a volunteer firefighter since 2001 back in his home state of Connecticut. Eric is a Firefighter I/II and Ambulance Aid, and he has served as a member of the board of directors. He currently serves as Treasurer. Eric has is certified Firefighter I/II.  He currently works for Fairfax County Park Authority.

MEMBER AT LARGE - JUSTIN KARASEK
Justin Karasek joined the department in 2019 when he moved from Pennsylvania where he currently still serves as a Firefighter-EMT for the last 17 years with a background in Special Vehicle Rescue, Confined Space Rescue, Technical Rope Rescue, Truck Company Operations, and Engine Company Operations. He joined SJVFD and quickly got up to speed working with a combination fire station, he completed recruit school shortly after joining, then went straight to attending Driver Pumper Operator school to become a cleared Engine Driver. Justin is now is currently undergoing training as an Engine Company Officer where he can better the community he lives and serves. Justin also is a Fire Logistic Technician and is currently a Member At Large on the Board of Directors.

MEMBER AT LARGE - PATRICIA SCHUMAKER

Patricia joined the Prince William Fire and Rescue service 6 years ago and has been with SJVFD for 5 of those years. 

Working on the EMS operational side, she volunteers as a driver and attendant in charge. Patricia is also on the BOD at the station as a member at large and has served as the secretary. One of her most treasured roles that she is involved in, is that of Mrs Claus during the Santa Brigade. 

She is currently a member of the Recruitment and Retention committee that serves the county for both career and volunteer applicants interested in the fire service.
