At 2023 hours, Engine 511B and E504 (opposite direction) were dispatched for an auto fire on the westbound side of Interstate 66 at the 49.7 mile marker. Dispatch received multiple calls including radio transmission from VSP confirming a vehicle on fire. E511B arrived on scene of a small fire in the engine compartment of and older style Honda sedan. The crew rapidly knocked the fire down, forced the hood open to complete extinguishment, and salvaged a number of personal effects fMany thanks to our neighbors from Fairfax County Engine 438 for stopping by to offer their assistance. Another thanks to VDOT and VSP for their quick response, they had already blocked off 2 lanes of the interstate so the crew from Engine 511B had a safe area to work in to extinguish the fire.
